Emma Griggs is a Surface Pattern Designer, inspired by the pretty little things in life; and as one of four sisters, has always been surrounded by all things girly. Her family has lived in Switzerland since 2008, meaning she can easily access the inspiring and decorative things found both here in the Uk and in Europe too.
Attention to detail is the focus of her background research and she reinvents the patterns seen in everyday life, with paper and collage. Subtle palettes of vintage tones romantically appear within her designs, twisted and threaded together with a series of intricate line drawing and hints of stitch. As a lover of layering on top of alternative grounds, she also sees the potential of the neutral tones of found papers.
After being awarded with a placement at Tigerprint in 2009, Emma discovered her love for the greetings card industry, in which her work fits beautifully. Her designs are versatile and could be applied to a variety of media, even though they are predominantly made with paper.
